A Dog's Life

One of life's cruelest jokes is that our pets live such short lives as compared to their owners.  The average life of a healthy dog or cat is between 8-12 years.  Meanwhile, humans typically live 70-80 years.  That means if you are fond of owning pets you're guaranteed several heartbreaks in your life.  It's just not fair.

We own pets and bring them into our lives because of the joy they bring and the void that they fill in our daily lives.  It's a sacrifice we gladly make to enrich our lives and the lives of our families.  Life is too precious and short not to give your pets the best life possible and make the most of them.  Don't forget, animals love unconditionally.

When I see a dog sitting outside tied to a dog house or a stray cat struggling outside I think of all the time they are missing out on.  The same goes for the dogs and cats sitting in our local pounds and shelters.  So, when you go home tonight hug your dog or cat and let them know how much you love them.  Life is way too short.
