Big Bad Bailey
Bailey started off his humble beginning in an abusive and neglectful household in Waterbury, CT. His owners moved out of their apartment leaving Bailey behind. Carol Sirica, a thirty year rescue veteran of the Waterbury area, heard of Bailey being abandoned in an empty house void of food and water and knew she needed to do something. Carol immediately took action. Bailey was brought to the Animal Rescue Foundation.
Once at ARF, Bailey quickly became a favorite of the volunteers. Because of his previous owners the dog had trust issues with humans. He bonded well once he got to know and trust somebody but he didn't show very well to perspective adopters. He eventually became a resident of ARF along with Lucy Rose, Buddy, Merlin, and Buster.
His days at ARF were very enjoyable. Not only did he get the most attention of all the dogs but he was walked first and had the biggest cage!! He became a pet to all of us at ARF and we all became his owners.
On November 23, 2008 ARF suffered a devastating shelter fire. We no longer can walk Bailey to Lake Winfield and back where he enjoyed splashing in that little river along Winfield's driveway. He now lives with Steve Gilbert who ARF asked to foster Big Bad Bailey and be his guardian. Steve, along with ARF, makes sure that Bailey (who is at least 10 years old) is well fed and is kept still very happy.
Being a dog Bailey has no idea at all how much of a lucky dog he truly is. He not only survived an abusive situation only to be left to die, he then survived at ARF without exactly being adoptable, and then he survived the shelter fire!! He defines ARF and defines why ARF must go on. How many more Baileys will need our help? We need to reopen now. Please send a donation to:
